Masking Tape

When masking tape is used to tape the edges of soft watercolour paper it is sometimes difficult to remove without tearing the surface of the paper. This problem can be lessened by gently heating the tape with a hairdryer on a low setting. I pull the tape off while the heat–on low setting–is being applied being careful not to burn my fingers.

  3. The adhesive of masking tape hardens with time, so rapid removal will make for a cleaner release. Also different types of tape have different degrees of tack; the blue professional tape releases more easily and leaves a cleaner edge. I've also had good experience with the new green 'frog' tape.
