Our 2nd last day

Y We had a great time yesterday, visiting two villages. The first was Brenac where we had some time to sketch. Here is the subject I chose to put in my sketchbook.

Here is my quick sketch. There are so many things that one might paint.

The next village was Minerva. This ancient place was built in a seemingly impossible area in a gorge. We had a couple of hours here to wander around and soak up the history of this remarkable living museum.

France 3rd last day

This was our instructor's day off so we were free to do our own thing. I walked around town a bit and took more pictures of our home away from home. Below you can see part of the spiral staircase that we climb to get to our rooms. There are 27 stone steps.

This is our breakfast buffet. Breakfast is at 8:30 most mornings except when we go on a longer trip, then breakfast is earlier. Always fresh bread, croissants, baguettes and whole grain cereals along with excellent coffee, honey and jams.

This is a shot of the court yard at Le Monastere. Here we hang out our hand washed clothing to be dried. The cloths smell so good afterwards! It is going to be tough getting back to what we consider normal in Canada. Life moves at a much slower pace here.

France ...what day is it anyway?

Today we visited the city of Corllioure, which is on the Mediterranean. What fun this place was. It was incredibly windy today but I managed a few sketches which I will post later. This area is very touristy so you can imagine all the cute shops, coffee shops and art galleries there are here. Flowers are gorgeous. I took lots of pics. I would love to spend more time here.

France drawing

Finally got this little drawing photographed for you to see. This was done in Lagrasse.

France Day 11 or is it 12?

I am losing track of time. Because I can't get on the Internet with my phone, I took a picture using my iPad,of this little painting I did yesterday at Alet Les Bais. What an amazing little town this is for artists. One could spend a month here and not paint all that is inspiring.

Six of us ate in the restaurant, I ordered prawns and of course they came head and tail et all. And they were huge! When our young waiter brought them to the table they were flaming. It is wonderful how meals are presented in this country. And each meal seems better than the last!

France day 10

Still no pictures of my drawings because they haven't come to my iPad from the phone yet. So I thought I would show you one of my sketching locations. This is in an alleyway in Lagrasse. In my drawing I did not include the door with the glass panes. I might have done so on a warmer day but on this day it was cold and windy. This alley is directly in front of a medieval market square.

France Day 7

Today we went to see the cave paintings in Niaux. This was an amazing adventure.  We were not allowed to take pictures so I can only share this photo of the entrance.
